The City Manager of the City of Mount Clemens is appointed by the Mayor and the City Commission. As chief administrative officer, the City Manager oversees the day-to-day operations of the City; plans, develops and implements diverse City services to meet policy requirements and address community needs; oversees the organization and direction of all City departments; and ensures compliance with contractual and regulatory obligations. In his role, the City Manager communicates with members of the City Commission, employees, citizens, business representatives, local, state and federal government officials and other members of the public.
On November 5, 2007, the City Commission appointed Douglas C. Anderson to the City Manager position. In the past, he had previously served as an Interim City Manager in the absence of past managers. Doug has dedicated more than 27 years of his professional career to serving the City of Mount Clemens and its residents. He began his employment in 1980 as a Mechanic and has risen through the ranks, overseeing the Department of Public Services for 18 years.
In the past, Mr. Anderson has been commended for accepting any challenges he has been faced with and is known for handling them with proficiency and professionalism. The City Commission is confident, and Mr. Anderson is optimistic, that he can utilize his experience and abilities to assist the City with its future goals and move Mount Clemens forward.
On a personal note, Doug is an avid golfer and hockey coach and enjoys fishing and hunting. He is married to his wife Lisa for nearly 28 years, with whom he has three sons: Christopher, Cameron, and Kyle.
