Established in 1818 by Christian Clemens.

Area - 4.22 Square Miles

Macomb County Seat - Includes County offices and courts – daytime population increases by approximately 6,500 people.

Location – Mount Clemens is approximately 20 miles northeast of Downtown Detroit.

Access – The Downtown is convenient and accessible to the entire Metropolitan Detroit region by four major Southeastern Michigan transportation corridors:

1) I-94/Ford Freeway is located on the eastern edge of the City’s boundaries, less than two miles from the downtown.

2) M-59/Hall Road is two miles north of the downtown.

3) Metropolitan Parkway/16 Mile Road is just south of town.

4) I-696/Reuther Freeway (one of the region’s main east-west freeways) is just six miles south from the downtown.

Lake Saint Clair is less than five miles east of the downtown.

The Mount Clemens Municipal Marina is in the downtown area.

Over 30 events held annually in the Downtown, produced by various organizations bringing in over 150,000 visitors each year.

Nearby amenities include Freedom Hill County Park and concert venue and Metropolitan Beach, one of the Huron-Clinton Metropolitan Park District parks.

Two hospitals are located near the Downtown.
