ELECTIONS/VOTER REGISTRATION INFORMATION

Please visit Michigan’s Voter Information Center at: www.michigan.gov/vote to get information of your voter registration status, upcoming elections, etc.

The City Clerk’s Office is responsible for all functions of an election including registering voters, processing absentee ballot requests, appointment of precinct inspectors, certify nominating petitions for the Office of Mayor and City Commission.

The voters in the City of Mount Clemens vote using the Accu-Vote system. The Help America Vote Act of 2002 requires one accessible voting device (called AutoMARK) in each polling location beginning with the August 8, 2006 elections. The City of Mount Clemens successfully implemented this new marking device at all of its polling locations. This new equipment assists voters with disabilities in casting their ballot at the precinct. It provides voters with various disabilities the opportunity to mark, verify and cast their votes on the same ballots as every other voter. The AutoMARK is basically an electronic pen and marks the ballot for the voter. If you are interested in trying out this new machine, feel free to call the City Clerk’s Office at 469-6818 ext. 3.

How do I register to vote?

In order to vote in any election, a person must be 18 years of age on or before Election Day and must register to vote at least 30 days prior to the Election. You can register to vote at any Secretary of State office or at the City Clerk’s Office.
