Michigan Heat Awareness Day is this Friday. A heat wave is a prolonged period of excessive heat and humidity. On average, Michigan has 5 heat-related deaths each year. In fact, there are hundreds of hospitalizations due to heat-related illness in Michigan annually. To learn more, you can visit:
REPORTING STREETLIGHTS OUT
Regarding issues with non-functioning streetlights, residents can report this issue to DTE by calling (800) 477-4747
or by submitting a form on the DTE website by clicking on the following link:
DTE has stated that if a streetlight has a burned out bulb, the situation is usually addressed within 5 days. If
underground issues are involved, the timeframe is more like 2 weeks.
MACOMB COUNTY HOUSING REHABILITATION PROGRAM
The Macomb County "Housing Rehabilitation Program" offers up to $30,000 in deferred, interest free loans
for eligible homeowners to make their homes "decent, safe and sanitary" as defined by federal housing
quality standards and municipal code. For more information, click here.
WATER METER MODERNIZATION PROGRAM
The City continues with our Water Meter Modernization Program. We are updating water meters and/or outside reading devices throughout the City.
In advance of work affecting your neighborhood, you should receive a letter from the City explaining the program. An example letter and a Frequently Asked Questions document can be opened by clicking here. The City Contractor employees performing the work will have a City-issued identification card and you can call the City Utilities Department at (586) 469-6889, ext. 502 if you have questions.
